Counselling therapy for adults and couples in a safe, comfortable and private setting

Hello, my name is Caroline, and I offer integrative counselling in Bedford and online for adults and couples. I work using an integrative approach, meaning I use a variety of approaches along with my knowledge and skills to draw on interventions to tailor my approach for individual clients.

Our sessions are directed by what you wish to discuss. My approach offers you a no-pressure, strictly confidential space in which to speak freely about whatever difficulties you are facing and be truly listened to without judgement.

“When a person realizes he has been deeply heard, his eyes moisten. I think in some real sense he is weeping for joy. It is though he were saying ‘Thank God, somebody heard me. Someone knows what it’s like to be me’.” - Carl R Rogers.

I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), along with being a member of the International Centre of Excellence in Emotionally Focussed Therapy (ICEFT) and an associate member of the British Emotionally Focussed Therapy Centre (BEFT) I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and fully compliant with GDPR regulations and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

I also have a Counselling Tutor Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling, offering sessions over Zoom as well as face to face.

Speak in Confidence

Counselling takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.

A problem shared...

Trouble with a relationship; anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression - many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling gives us a set of tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.

Make better, healthier new choices

Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.

My Approach

As an integrative counsellor, I adjust the way I work to suit the particular needs and issues you have. Every individual’s situation is different, which is why I never impose a certain way of working with my clients. Counselling is your time and space to explore and understand what is going on for you. Talking with a counsellor can have far reaching beneficial effects on our emotional experience, brain chemistry, and overall life story.

You may not always feel comfortable talking to those closest to you about what you’re going through, no matter how much they care. It is difficult to see a loved one suffer, and it can be hard for people to know what to say. Counselling is different to talking to family and friends because there is no mutual exchange of personal information.

I work with wide range of issues, such as relationship problems, stress, and anger issues, and have a special interest and much experience in working with domestic and sexual abuse, grief, anxiety, panic attacks, chronic illness, and depression.

Areas I can help with include:

Grief & bereavement

Diabetes & chronic conditions

Trauma

Domestic & sexual abuse

Personal growth

Depression

Anxiety

Work-related stress

Career counselling

Couples counselling

Stress

Anger

Self-esteem issues

Relationships

Addiction

Living with chronic illness

Suicidal thoughts

Pet bereavement

About Me

Prior to becoming an integrative counsellor in Bedford and online, I owned a hair and beauty salon for 25 years. It was during this period that I developed a passion for listening closely to people in a relaxed atmosphere.

I decided to take my love of listening further by studying to gain my counselling qualification. As part of my counselling journey I have worked for several different charities. Working with people who have been affected by road death was the start of my journey in the field of trauma, bereavement and grief.

I went on to join a charity supporting individuals who have been affected by domestic and sexual abuse, furthering my experiencing of working with trauma. I do have a keen interest in working with people with diabetes and the challenges of living with a chronic illness and possess a good insight into diabetes and its challenges.

I can empathise with the fact that specialists don’t always have the time during appointments to talk about you, your feelings and your challenges due to time constraints and their obligation to focus on the physical side of your condition. I can provide a confidential, safe space where you can talk about how your diabetes/chronic illness affects you and how you feel about yourself.

Online Counselling

If you are wondering if integrative counselling online is for you, I offer a free telephone or online assessment where we can have a brief, informal chat about what’s bothering you. It is also a great chance to see whether you feel comfortable talking to me and the chat will only take around 15 minutes. If we are both happy after that, then I can usually arrange your first Zoom session within one week.

If you prefer to speak face to face, I also offer integrative counselling from my practice in Great Denham.

Sessions

Counselling sessions for individual adults and couples last 60 minutes, usually taking place on a weekly basis.

Contact me to enquire about availability.

Note that if you want to cancel an appointment I require 48 hours’ notice; otherwise you will still need to pay for any sessions missed. I accept payment in cash, or by bank transfer.
